Welcome
First off I would like to thank you personally for getting involved in our little car show. This is the sixth year for the show, returning after a break since 2018, with a new organiser, myself, Mark Dale. We’ve kept the format very similar to previous years 2015-2018 when it was run very well by Jay.
Hopefully it will be a great day for everyone and in the process enable some great local charities to raise funds. I look forward to meeting you on the day and seeing your fantastic vehicle.
Included in this documentation there will be your car pass. You MUST have this car pass displayed in your windscreen on arrival at the check point and all day. On the day there will be marshals including myself directing you to the correct areas and helping you park up. I would ask that you are patient with the stewards and help by parking where you are directed. As you can imagine we need to get a good few motors parked up in a short period of time so your assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.
Also in this document is a rough map (Map 1) to show you the route we are going to bring cars in. We are going to bring the majority of vehicles the wrong way down part of a one way street which is called “Otley Street”. The reason for this is the street enters the high street in the middle and as such we can distribute the cars easier and also it should stop the roads of Skipton getting blocked up with our cars as we park everyone up.
The only way to the car pass check point/entrance to the show is off “Newmarket Street” on to “Court Lane”.
We will be letting cars in from 7:45am all the way up to 9:45am. If you arrive after this time you might be turned away. So I would ask you get there nice and early with your car pass Displayed in your windscreen.
We have included some directions along with the rules and regulations for the day. I know it might seem a bit harsh having to spell out the obvious, however due to the location of the show and our public liability insurance we have to do this.
Last but not least is a rough layout of the high street. If you are coming with a friend and you want to park next to them could I ask that you arrive together as you will be parked up in order of arrival. Maybe arrange to rendezvous in advance to arriving in Skipton Town Centre.
There will be some prizes awarded, and a prize giving at 3pm, at Admin HQ – located in a Gazebo approx ½ way up the High St on the left, as you look at the Castle.
Many thanks again and fingers crossed for a warm dry day!
Mark Dale

Rules and Regulations for the day
I would ask you to take a moment to read through everything on this page to try and help us make sure the day runs as smoothly and safely as possible so everyone involved has a great day.
1/ All vehicles to be on the high street by 9:45am at the very latest. The gate will be open from 7:45am so there should be plenty of time to get your vehicle in and parked up. If you are using a trailer you will need to be in by 8:15am at the latest, off load and remove the tow vehicle and trailer from the high street. If you are using a trailer please contact me via e-mail; admin@skiptoncarshow.co.uk as soon as possible to confirm. You will need to find suitable parking for your trailer and tow vehicle.
2/ Once you arrive at the gate on “Otley Street” please adhere to a strict 5mph speed limit as there will be people including the general public walking around, as well as other vehicles. Please be careful and keep your eyes peeled as we do not want any accidents.
3/ Please be tolerant and patient with the volunteer marshals as they are helping us for free, park up quickly and safely where you have been directed. If they ask you to move or reposition your car please help them by obliging as there will be a reason.
4/ All engines must be switched off by 9.45am and not started again until the show is over at 4pm. You might be asked during the show to start your engine as a display but only by an official member of the crew. If you need to leave during the show due to an emergency you will need to find a marshal who will direct and help you leave. Otherwise the vehicle must not move under any circumstance until the show ends at 4pm
5/ No loud stereos to be played at any time during the show, No starting or revving of engines (unless asked to by an official) and No burn outs, wheel spinning or dangerous driving. If any of this occurs you will asked to leave immediately and your details will be passed on to the police who will be in attendance.
6/ I know that a few people have applied from clubs on an individual basis which is great. However we cannot promise you will be parked up together. If you want to park up together then I would ask you arrive at the same time. Unfortunately you will not be able to “save spaces” for friends as cars will be parked up in the coloured areas in the order they arrive.
7/ As this show is held on the public High Street I would ask you respect your surroundings and make sure you put any litter in the bins or take it home with you.
8/ Please use the food and drink traders on the High St, and local businesses as this helps to show the value the show brings to Skipton.
9/ HAVE A GREAT DAY, SHARE YOUR PASSION AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY WHEN LEAVING THE EVENT.

We are only suggesting these routes as they will bring you to the bottom of the high street closer to the entrance gate. Any other routes you take will end up with you at the top of the high street and the road is closed, so there will be a long route round to get to the entrance gate. Post code for “Court Lane” (Show Gate Entrance) for sat-nav is “BD23 1DD”.
I hope this is of some help and I wish you a safe journey. Mark
