Isetta 300 (1961)
This car only had two owners from new. The first one bought it in Northampton on Sept 1st 1961. He was a Czech war veteran from WW2. He only owned it for 6 months to learn to drive before trading it in to buy a Morris Minor. The 2nd owner, Albert Hall, owned the car for a year before giving it to his children to mess around with. They took off every nut and bolt…….and lost them. Otherwise the car was in very good condition when I bought it in 1996. Since then, the car has had two nut and bolt restorations. A very reliable car, she has travelled under her own power, to Germany twice, to the outer Hebrides for a fortnights driving holiday, to Cornwall for a fortnights holiday, and to Leicester to the owners club AGM. She is now coming up to her 62nd birthday. Not bad for a car which BMW thought would only last 5 years.
Recently this car, and three of her compatriots, were featured on the popular ‘Bangers & Cash’ (Series 4 ep 2) with a drive out in the Dales.
